Newconomics 2023 - Meet our Speakers: Nicolai Reinbold

2 min read

Are you coming to Newconomics in Lisbon? Come and join us as we gather web3 experts and business people from around the world to talk about new global economics, the future of work and better ways to work together. One of the expert speakers at our event is Nicolai Reinbold of CV VC & CV Labs, the Swiss blockchain ecosystem. He kindly shared his thoughts on web3.

Embracing a User-Centric Internet with Web3's Innovative Solutions

"I think that web3 is like a digital revolution's remix. It's not just about browsing or connecting with information anymore. It's a paradigm shift that represents a trust-based, decentralised, and user-centric internet.

Imagine a world where we own our data, where digital assets are as real as physical ones, and where collaboration and transparency are at the core. Web3 isn't just a technology, it's a vision for a more empowering and inclusive digital future. To me, Web3 means redefining how we interact with the online world, creating a digital space where the power is back in the hands of the individual, and innovation knows no bounds.

I see web3 technologies as the gateway to a multitude of exciting opportunities. It's like the Wild West of the digital frontier, where innovation and creativity know no bounds. Web3 also promises a reimagined internet where trust, transparency, and collaboration reign supreme. Imagine new forms of governance, supply chain traceability, and immersive virtual worlds that redefine how we live, work, and play. Blockchain technology can be used in so many sectors, and I think that is the interesting part.

There are still some barriers to use. Some platforms are complex and not very user friendly. Scalability can get in the way of the more seamless use of applications. There’s regulatory uncertainty which makes people think of it as a risky space. Lack of education, security concerns and the fact that we don’t yet have a critical mass to ensure that some applications work and will have a sufficiently large user base. This is still a relatively new technology to a lot of people, so mass adoption and solutions to all these issues may take some time.

The future of work is exciting to me in terms of remote and flexible working and innovation. Bringing web3 to this means that we could be using smart contracts, offering reskilling initiatives and reducing geographical limitations. All of this could offer more ways to work together and collaborate."
