Newconomics 2023 - Meet our Speakers: Ondřej Macháček

2 min read

Have you booked your ticket for Newconomics yet? We have an amazing lineup of speakers and panel experts who will be sharing their experience and visions of the future at the event. One such guest is Ondřej Macháček, CEO of CleevioX, a product studio with a focus on app development for product discovery and growth that has worked with McDonalds, Deloitte and Gamee among many others. Ondřej kindly shared his thoughts and observations of web3 with us ahead of the event.

The Journey to Web3: Insights from an Industry Expert

“To me, Web3 represents the next step in the evolution of the internet, making it fairer and more interoperable. It has the potential to significantly disrupt traditional business models but right now it is the Wild West. We are at the very beginning, but in the future it is one of the ways of digitalization and I'm looking forward to seeing all the innovations it will bring.

I was drawn to Web3 because of my previous experience in the financial sector and banking. I see the potential for this technology to completely change the industry. In addition, I've noticed that people who get involved in the blockchain industry are often among the best in IT, and I think this trend will continue as blockchain continues to evolve.

It’s not for everyone yet. A big challenge at the moment is the clunky user experience. Having to go through 15 or more steps to use an app is just not user-friendly. Self-custody is great, but it comes with responsibilities that many people are not used to. Mistakes like signing malicious transactions or entering incorrect addresses can lead to serious problems. It means we lack security. Incomplete or lack of regulation also hinders adoption. Apart from stablecoins, I think we have yet to find the killer web3 app that will attract the masses.

Web3 and blockchain tools can be a really valuable part of the working world. I recently came across a statistic about the high number of fake doctors in India, which was alarming. So I see a huge opportunity in having trusted onchain degrees, and certifications issued by universities. With verifiable credentials and crypto payments, we could have easier ways to tap into the global talent pool.

These technologies can also give individuals more control over their data and earnings and open up the global job market. The mix of blockchain with other tech promises flexibility and collaboration sparking innovation and tackling challenges in new ways.”

Find out more about the new economics of Web3 and how it can change the way we work together at the Newconomics event in Lisbon. Full details and registration can be found on the website.
