Newconomics 2023 - Meet our Speakers: Sarah Gottwald

“The web3 arena is a really exciting place to work if you appreciate innovation and fresh ideas. To me, it symbolises a shift towards decentralised digital sovereignty. It’s a powerful extension of the principles that first drew me to blockchain – autonomy, transparency, and the ability to operate free.
I have a background in corporate strategy and digital transformation, and I have seen web3 evolve as the next frontier on business innovation. It offers transformative potential for how we conceptualise value, trust, and peer-to-peer interactions, particularly in the financial services and manufacturing sectors.
Right now, I think the main barrier to mass adoption is easy access and easy user interfaces and a lot less risk in using web3 technologies. My perspective emphasises the importance of education and dispelling misconceptions. Many are unaware of or are misinformed about the benefits and intricacies of Web3 and blockchain, and addressing this gap is crucial.
Blockchain and Web3 can revolutionise the way we approach work and business, making processes more transparent, secure, and efficient. I'd like to see technology address the decentralisation of opportunities, ensuring that no matter where someone is based, they can access the resources and platforms they need to succeed.
I'm excited about the potential of decentralised technologies to democratise opportunities, create more equitable business ecosystems, and bring about a new era of innovation and collaboration.
